A Delta Air Lines scheduled flight out of Berlin for New York has declared an emergency earlier today, before diverting to Amsterdam. Delta Air Lines flight DL93 from Berlin Brandenberg Airport (BER) to New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) declared an emergency, squawking code 7700 as it transited the North Sea after departure.

The aircraft made a normal departure out of Berlin, listing a departure time of 10:44 CEST, before climbing to track to cruising altitude of 32,000 feet. The flight was halfway across the North Sea when it declared an emergency before diverting south to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) in the Netherlands.

Flight DL93 was operated by Delta Air Lines Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, registration N182DN.

Information posted to social media reports that the flight was met by emergency vehicles at Amsterdam and escorted to the stand as a precaution.

An unconfirmed report states that the flight crew received a warning alarm on the flightdeck and diverted as a precaution rather than cross the Atlantic. The cause or type of alarm has not been ascertained.

An onwards flight from Amsterdam (AMS) to New York (JFK) has been listed, with the current scheduled departure time of 14:46 CEST.

As a side note, a similar airplane belonging to Delta, registration N189DN, experienced severe hailstorm damage whilst operating a long haul flight from Milan, Italy to New York last week. The aircraft suffered damage to its radome/nose cone assembly as well as wing leading edges and engine spinner.
